All jewellery types are susceptible to damage from chlorine. It is therefore highly recommended not to wear jewellery when using cleaning utensils or when swimming. It is also advised to remove your jewellery when applying scent, lotions or creams.

GOLD should be cleaned on a regular basis to preserve its beauty, this can be done with a soft cloth.

GOLD VERMEIL is a layer of gold over Sterling Silver and requires cleaning to preserve its colour. This can be done with a soft cloth. Plated silver jewellery will naturally tarnish over time. It is recommended to wear your plated silver jewellery regularly in order to delay the tarnishing process. We advise protecting your jewellery from scratches, chemicals such as perfume, aftershave or cleaning products, extreme temperatures including exposure to sunlight as well as water, sea water and chlorinated water.

STERLING SILVER, like most precious metals, can tarnish. It is recommended to wear your silver jewellery regularly in order to delay this process. Clean your Sterling Silver jewellery I warm soapy water ensuring the piece is rinsed thoroughly and dried before storing.

DIAMONDS are extremely hard stones, but they can still suffer chips from other sharp objects. Store your diamond jewellery separate from one another. Clean diamonds with warm soapy water and a soft brush.

GEMSTONES: The strength of the gemstone is based on the standard of the Mohs scale. The higher the Mohs scale is, the harder the stone, the lower, the more susceptible the stone is to scratching. 

Gemstones with a higher rank in the Mohs scale can be cleaned with warm water, mild detergent and a soft brush, and for gemstones with a lower rank, only a soft cloth is recommended.

 LEATHER

RUIFIER leather products are always handmade, crafted from the finest Italian leather. Our leathers are meticulously selected by hand, chosen for their luxurious texture and rich sheens. The leathers we use are natural, so features such as creasing, shading and colour irregularities are expected and integral to the design of our products.

CLEANING

RUIFIER recommends cleaning the leather exterior of the product with a soft cloth and warm, mild soapy water. Ensure that the cloth is thoroughly wrung out so that it feels slightly damp, and gently wipe the surface of the leather.

STORAGE

When not in use, we recommend storing your leather product in its soft bag in a cool, dry environment.

CARE

Do not leave your leather products in prolonged sunlight. Do not expose to wet, damp or humid conditions or high temperatures. Never soak the leather nor apply detergents and do not wash the fabric lining. Refrain from “feeding” the leather with products such as waxes, polishes or saddle soaps.
