Prized for their brilliant lustre and delicate colours, the Akoya pearl is one of the world’s most rare and valuable pearls.
Created by the smallest pearl making oysters in the world, the Akoya Oyster is most commonly found in Japan where cooler water temperatures mean the nacre of the pearl forms much slower. This results in a more compact structure, giving the pearls a bright iridescent lustre.
The Akoya pearl has become a long-term favourite within the pearl industry, creating small, spheroid pearls perfect for well-polished jewellery designs.
